Watford City Transportation Plan

Project Description

The North Dakota Department of Transportation, in partnership with the City of Watford City and McKenzie County, is developing a Future Land Use and Long Range Transportation Plan for Watford City and the surrounding area to a horizon year of 2040. The Plan will provide recommendations for future land uses and short, medium, and long term transportation needs. The Study Limits for this project area shown in the Map section of this page.

The Future Land Use Plan will provide guidance to the City of Watford City on the location of future development and expansion. The future land uses determined as a part of this project will be used to determine the estimated future traffic volumes in the Watford City area. Using the estimated future traffic volumes, the Long Range Transportation Plan will provide recommendations for the transportation system in the Watford City area.

The public is encouraged to be involved in the development and recommendations of the Plan. Opportunities for public participation include the Public Input Meetings being held in Watford City and by providing comments through the project website. The dates and times for the Public Input Meetings are located in the Current Project Status section of the project’s web site.

Current Project Status

The project is currently in the Future Land Use and Existing Condition analysis phases of the Plan.
