Project Description
The Lewis and Clark Bridge project is part of the US 85 Four Lane Project, which is creating 33 miles of four lane roadway on US 85 from Watford City to Williston. Crews have completed Phases 1-3 of the project as of 2016, from Watford City to just south of Williston. Crews will finish constructing the four lanes with a paved median from south of Williston to the Lewis and Clark Bridge once the new bridge project is complete.
This two year project includes the construction of a new four lane bridge next to the current two lane bridge. Once construction of the new four lane bridge is complete, the previous two lane bridge will be demolished and traffic will flow onto the new bridge.
Crews have built a temporary work bridge to facilitate construction of the new permanent four lane bridge and are relocating utilities to assist with bridge construction and the remainder of construction of the new four lane roadway.
Live cameras are capturing footage of the bridge construction and are visible below. A time lapse video of the project will also be created from the footage captured on-site.
Current Project Status
Construction continues on the new bridge and the US Highway 85 Four Lane project is almost complete. Construction of the new bridge and the remainder of the four lane roadway is expected to be complete at the end of the 2016 construction season.
