Project Description
The ND 23 North of Johnson’s Corner project includes the segment of ND Highway 23 from Johnson’s Corner to near the junction of ND Highway 22. The project consists of widening, paving and constructing climbing lanes. This is a two year project that began in 2015, with an expected completion during the 2016 construction season.
Current Project Status
Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, September 3, traffic will be shifted onto the northern portion of ND Highway 23 east of Watford City from the 112th Ave NW intersection to the intersection of ND Highway 23 and ND Highway 73 (Johnson’s Corner). The southern portion of the roadway will be closed to traffic to allow crews to continue paving work. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the area.
During construction:
- Motorists should expect delays
- Flaggers will be in place
- Speeds will be reduced to 25 mph
- A 12-foot width restriction will be in place
- Traffic will be head-to-head in some areas
Various traffic restrictions will be in place on this portion of ND Highway 23 throughout the construction season.
